Join in the conversation

We hope we’ve just made it easier for local people to join in local, online conversations.

Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc all get conversations going, but the people involved can be anywhere.  Some conversations are better had with local people about local issues.  If you’re sharing an interest then you may want to discuss it with people you know in your area or other local people you don’t yet know.  What about sharing ideas for local volunteering, or how to make your neighbourhood a better place to live or work?  What about rallying other local people around an issue that matters to you all?

We’ve added a ‘Discussion‘ area to the West Marsh community website (and we’ll be adding this to the other community sites as they come live).

Using the power of the Disqus discussion tool (used in this blog and throughout the West Marsh site), anyone can now comment on, reply to, add to or otherwise get involved in discussions around topics they understand or are interested in.

You can comment on news items already – but you can now choose a discussion topic to add your voice too.

You need to have a verified Disqus account to do so – but if you’re already on Twitter, Facebook etc you can use that login – you don’t need a new one.  And discussion topics and comments go through a moderator before they appear.  But the process is simple, open and unrestrictive to make sure conversations can flow well.  We’re running community websites so we won’t tolerate spam or other unsavory use of conversations – which is why we’ll have restrictions in place.  But if you get yourself registered and get involved properly with the conversations, you’ll find your comments being automatically moderated so you feel part of your online community.

Need a new conversation topic to discuss – just open up the conversation here and we’ll post the topic for others to join in.

Let’s get our communities talking!
